TIP: remove ALL synced music before making the change and do a full re-sync otherwise this could cause confusion and you could end up with songs doubled up with ones that won't play or ones not synced at all because it thinks they're already there.
The best advice is to set Media Player to sync the music as mp3 instead of allowing other formats. You may have to use a converter like Format Factory to convert the non-mp3 songs into mp3 format. Windows Media player is very extensible by using codecs to extend the types of files it can play. Are you using a smart phone or dumb phone? If dumb phone it very likely only supports MP3.
